Jun 3, 2004. #3. Re: 2 stroke crank case sealer? Locktite 518 is one of the most common sealers used to seal when assembling the two crankcase halves. I have used several things at a race when this has happened including (Devcon if time to cure is posible )or silicone if time is short. They are only temporary solutions.Important to note the blocks on split Crank Case engines are machined with the halves bolted together without any sealant. Therefore any sealant that is too thick will upset the dimension of the machined halves and can effect the crank centering and bearing fit. If done right the anaerobic will be much less than 0.0005″ ( 1/2 part in 10,000).

It has a silvery grey color and will look like your aluminum cases. The stuff is pretty much the standard of the industry.

The anaerobics will never be as flexible as silicone based sealants but the case joint is a very rigid joint so it does not matter much. Just remember, Yamaha uses no center gasket and sells the Yamabond sealer for their cases. It works well.
